Frost Giant Guide

Frost Giant
Advanced

Snowspear Plains · ATK 800

The icicles you place are the only cover in the fight, and Call of the Ancestors only breaks when ten separate Legions each take one Frost Manastone.

Glacial Fissures: enrage at 8 minutes

8m after entering battle, Frost Giant becomes Enraged, casting Groundspike and instantly killing all Legions within its Lair.

Frost Giant is immune to every debuff and impairment except Taunt.

Control heroes do nothing here.

What you must not do

  • Place icicles out of the Giant's path. Implacable eats anything it touches
  • Below 50% HP the Giant stops making icicles. After that your cover is finite. Spend it carefully
  • Hide, do not run, from My Cave My Rules and Snowboulder
  • Ten separate Legions must each take one Frost Manastone. One player cannot do it alone
  • Send DPS on stone duty, they get +50% ATK for 30 seconds

The fight, phase by phase

6 phases
1

Where icicles come from, and where they go

Frost Spire marks exactly 3 Legions. 12 seconds later, an icicle rises under each marked Legion, knocking nearby Legions Airborne.

Twelve seconds is a long time. That is the window in which a marked player walks the icicle to where the raid will need it, and it is why this mechanic gets called out rather than reacted to.

Realm of Rime also grows icicles on its own, but it stops entirely once the Giant drops below 50% HP. From that point on, every piece of cover in the Lair came from a marked player.

Implacable: the Giant destroys any icicle it reaches or hits. So the rule is not only "do not stack icicles" and "leave lanes open". It is do not place icicles where the Giant is walking, or you will have spent your cover on nothing.

Frost Spire

Frost Spire

Frost Giant marks 3 Legions. 12s later, an icicle appears under all marked targets, dealing damage to all Legions near it and knocking them Airborne. Skill Damage (Physical). Damage Factor: 100.

Realm of Rime

Realm of Rime

Frost Giant generates massive icicles in its Lair. Frost Giant stops casting this skill when its remaining HP is below 50%.

Implacable

Implacable

Frost Giant destroys an icicle upon reaching or hitting it.

2

The two attacks that icicles exist for

My Cave, My Rules: a charge-up, then damage to every Legion in the Lair, knocking everyone Airborne. 50% of maximum Unit Count. The skill text says it plainly: hide behind an icicle to dodge it.

Snowboulder: the Giant marks a Legion standing outside a frozen area and rolls a boulder at them. 100% of maximum Unit Count to everything in its path, and it explodes when it hits an icicle or a wall, hitting everything around that too.

100% of your maximum Unit Count is the entire Legion. This is the single biggest hit in the fight, and again the answer is cover, not distance. Get an icicle between you and the boulder.

My Cave, My Rules

My Cave, My Rules

After a short charge-up, Frost Giant deals damage to all enemy Legions in its Lair, knocking them Airborne. Hide behind an icicle to dodge the damage. Skill Damage (Physical). Damage Value: 50% of the Legion's maximum Unit Count.

Snowboulder

Snowboulder

Frost Giant marks an enemy Legion outside a frozen area. Moments later, it rolls a snowball toward the marked target, dealing damage to all the Legions in the snowball's path. Skill Damage (Physical). Damage Value: 100% of the Legion's maximum Unit Count. The snowball explodes upon hitting icicles or walls, dealing damage to all surrounding Legions. Hide behind an icicle to dodge the damage. Skill Damage (Physical). Damage Value: 100% of the Legion's maximum Unit Count.

3

Howling Winds and the frozen areas

The Giant roars, knocks everyone Airborne out to the edge of the Lair, and creates a frozen area.

That frozen area matters twice: it is where Frost Manastones appear in the second stage, and standing inside one is what keeps you off Snowboulder's target list.

Howling Winds

Howling Winds

Frost Giant roars with rage, knocking all enemy Legions Airborne, throwing them to the edge of its Lair and generating 1 frozen area.

4

Second stage: Call of the Ancestors

The Frost Giant takes 100% less damage. Not reduced, immune. Your DPS does literally nothing until you break it.

Frost Manastones appear inside the frozen areas. Gathering one:

  • Reduces Call of the Ancestors by 10%
  • Grants your Legion ATK +50% for 30 seconds

Each Legion can only gather one.

That last line is why the raid needs ten different Legions on stone duty, not ten trips by one fast player. Ten stones, ten Legions, and the immunity is gone.

And each of those ten walks away with +50% ATK for 30 seconds. Send damage dealers, not spare bodies. The stone run and your burst window are the same thirty seconds.

Everyone not collecting stays grouped behind one icicle and moves as a block when it breaks.

5

Healing window

Healing Manastone appears when the second stage ends. Have the tank pull the Giant away from the pile, then collect. It heals your Legion's lightly wounded units.

Healing Manastone

Healing Manastone

When the second stage ends, the Lair produces Healing Manastone. When gathered, it heals a Legion's lightly wounded units.

6

Ongoing damage

  • Snowball Fight: thrown at a random Legion, prioritising Ranged, Damage Factor 1,000 in a radius. Your ranged line is the target, so it cannot be the tightest part of your formation
  • Skullshaker: forward rectangle, knocks Airborne
  • Furied Swing and Shattering Stomp: forward arcs
  • Icebreaker: hits everything around the Giant
