What you must not do

  • Keep Plague Ward up. 2.5% against 25% is the whole fight
  • Never touch a Rot Pool. It costs you the Ward, which costs you ten times as much later
  • Rotate the tanks. Two Toxic Discharges in a row is a dead Legion and 40% off everyone nearby
  • Walk the marked tank through the pools on their way out of the group

The fight, phase by phase

5 phases
1

The Miasma cycle

Miasmic Vapor fills the Lair with Miasma, up to 3 stacks. Every stack damages every Legion in the Lair, and it ramps hard:

StacksDamage per tick
10.5% of maximum Unit Count
21.5%
33%

Cleansing Manastone grants 1 stack of Plague Ward: complete immunity to Miasma damage. Collect it. There is no other way to stop the Lair from grinding you down.

Then Fog Devourer fires: the Giant eats all the Miasma, converting each stack into a stack of Billowing Fog for itself. That fuels the tank killer below.

Miasmic Vapor

Miasmic Vapor

After a short charge-up, Miasma Giant creates 1 stack of Miasma in its Lair, up to a maximum of 3 stacks. Each stack of Miasma deals Physical Skill damage to all Legions within the Lair (0.5%/1.5%/3% of the Legion's maximum Unit Count).

Cleansing Manastone

Cleansing Manastone

Cleansing Manastone will appear in Miasma Giant's Lair. Collect it to gain 1 stack of Plague Ward, providing immunity to damage dealt by Miasma.

Fog Devourer

Fog Devourer

Miasma Giant absorbs all Miasma within its Lair. Each stack absorbed grants Miasma Giant one stack of Billowing Fog.

Toxic Onslaught: the tank mechanic

The Giant spends 1 stack of Billowing Fog to Stun its current target and apply Toxic Discharge.

A Legion hit by Toxic Discharge twice in a row dies instantly, and everyone around it takes 40% of their maximum Unit Count.

Tanks must rotate taunts. The second application lands on whoever is holding aggro, so aggro has to change hands between casts. A raid that loses here loses its tank and a third of everyone standing near it in the same instant.

While a Legion carries Toxic Discharge, Plagueheart is active on it: 2% of maximum Unit Count every 2 seconds to everyone nearby, and it destroys Rot Pools in range.

So the marked tank is a walking hazard and a walking broom. Keep them away from the raid, and walk them through the pool field on the way out.

Toxic Onslaught

Toxic Onslaught

Miasma Giant consumes one stack of Billowing Fog to Stun its current target and inflict Toxic Discharge. Being hit by Toxic Discharge twice in a row will kill a Legion instantly, and deal Physical Skill damage to all surrounding Legions (40% of the Legion's maximum Unit Count).

Plagueheart

Plagueheart

Legions inflicted with Toxic Discharge deal Physical Skill damage every 2s to surrounding Legions (2% of the Legion's maximum Unit Count), and will also destroy Rot Pools within range.

3

Rot Pools

The Giant marks six Legions, and it prioritises Ranged Legions. 10 seconds later, a Rot Pool spawns at each of their positions.

  • Touching a pool: 10% of maximum Unit Count to everyone around you, and it strips one stack of Plague Ward
  • Ranged players are marked most, so ranged players are the ones who must be moving

Place them on the outer edges. Never inside the raid, never across a path people need.

Rot Pool

Rot Pool

Miasma Giant marks six Legions, prioritizing Ranged Legions. 10s later, marked Legions generate Rot Pools at their location. Rot Pools explode when Legions come into contact with them, dealing Physical Skill damage to surrounding Legions (10% of the Legion's maximum Unit Count) and dispelling one stack of Plague Ward.

4

Plagueheart Burst: why the pools matter

The Giant absorbs every Rot Pool in the Lair and hits all Legions at once:

Your stateDamage
With Plague Ward2.5% of maximum Unit Count
Without Plague Ward25% of maximum Unit Count

Each Rot Pool it absorbs adds another 5% on top.

It also detonates any live Toxic Discharge, for a further 20% of maximum Unit Count to everyone around that Legion.

This is the skill the whole fight is built around. Three things decide whether it is survivable: do you still have Plague Ward, how many pools were left standing, and is a marked tank standing in the crowd. Every rule below is one of those three.

Plagueheart Burst

Plagueheart Burst

Miasma Giant absorbs Rot Pools within its Lair, dealing Physical Skill damage to all Legions (2.5% of the Legion's maximum Unit Count, or 25% of the Legion's maximum Unit Count if the Legion does not have Plague Ward). Each Rot Pool absorbed increases damage dealt by 5%. Miasma Giant also causes a Legion's Toxic Discharge to explode, dealing Physical Skill damage to surrounding Legions (20% of the Legion's maximum Unit Count).
