Freya was born to House Eldveis, a minor noble family of alchemists. Her father Lawrence, obsessed with achieving "corporeal perfection", made her his test subject. On one rainy night, his golden sigils and multicolored concoctions plunged Freya into chaos. As an ice-cold power snaked its way into her bones, the agonizing ritual transformed her into a being with supernatural strength—an act that would lead to the family's ruin.
The transformation brought only brief glory before the curse of its side effects clearly became clear. In a last ditch attempt to resolve the crisis, Freya's father employed forbidden soul substitution magic, only to trigger a devastating magical explosion that burned Cerulean Manor to the ground. Freya, the only survivor of her family, had inadvertently awoken a relic that had slept for centuries—the weapon, Gloomviper. The blade, cursed as she had been, resonated with her essence, and she found herself able to control the serpentine blade-whip. Bearing the burden of her father's crime, she fled to the wilderness, determined to free herself from the manipulations she had been subject to all her life.
As the years passed, Freya became a hardened mercenary. She used her incredible strength to tame a ferocious black warhorse, and used her unusual weapon to subdue a berserk Thunder Roc. That day, as she looked down upon the crowd from atop the beast's head, she realized she was no longer a young girl fleeing for her life, but a queen who even the storm would bow to. The battle won her a reputation and attracted the attention of the Merchants' Guild, who put her in charge of an elite mercenary team.
But all her glories could not heal her body's reaction to her father's experiments, which grew more severe day by day. In search of a cure, she followed a caravan into a place shrouded in mist and outside the law—Blackcrow Gorge, where she sought a legendary Goblin alchemist. As she set foot on its soil, her blade-whip reacted with a ferocity she had never seen before. She knew now that the answer she hunted lay deep within the mist. No matter the cost, she would be master of her own fate.
