Story

  1. Chapter 1 Trust Level 2

Jorendal Aldrich Merlos Sorland, to give him his full name, was born to a declining noble family in the Blackiron Woods. From a young age, he knew he was surplus to requirements—at 6 years old, for the sake of the family's stability, he was sent to the Church of Light to receive a religious education. There, he learned not only prayer, but patience, forbearance, and how to see words left unsaid behind a glance. He showed an incredible talent for rote memorization, reciting scripture and lists of Church figures from memory.

  2. Chapter 2 Trust Level 4

In the year 1175, war shattered the peace of the abbey. When prayer could not hold back the Orcish advance, young Jorendal sprang into action before he could think twice. He had spent days watching warriors drilling their fighting techniques, etching their moves into his memory. Now, he recreated them perfectly. At that moment he realized that salvation lay not in faith, but in the sword. After the battle, he followed his older brother Alistair into the Royal Court, becoming a Warden of the Palace—all the while keeping his true martial talents hidden to avoid upstaging his brother.

  3. Chapter 3 Trust Level 6

On the eve of the Night of Burning Stars, tasked with escorting a shipment of Manastone, Jorendal witnessed first-hand the disaster that blind obedience to power can bring. In the face of crisis, his noble birth and his glorious knighthood were of no use. That night, despite his brother's urging, he gave up both his given name of Jorendal and his noble heritage. Instead, he would wield a single blade, and a single name—Joren.

  4. Chapter 4 Trust Level 8

The legend of the "Nameless Warrior" has spread across the city of Pandelis. Joren established the Nameless, taking in common folk threatened by the Darklings who had nowhere else to go. He is a strict teacher, teaching the art of survival to all those who seek it. Divine will is found not by looking to the skies, he tells the faithful, but by looking to the sword in one's hand. Here, no one knows his past. But there is one thing they do know: by following Joren's instructions, they may yet fight their way out of the chaos.
