Kella

From a young age, Kella loved to watch the peddlers as they roamed the streets and alleyways, bringing baskets woven with twigs from the Crowflock Wilds and beautiful glass bottles filled with the holy waters of Ffynon. To her, their dazzling array of wares represented all the richness that the world had to offer. Becoming a traveling merchant soon became all she dreamt about.

When she was 15, Kella became a traveling merchant. She was quick-witted, with a knack for drumming up trade. In summer, they would buy hides at low prices before selling them on at a premium to lovers planning to trek to the Everglacier to declare their undying love.

One day, she came upon a group of Orcish Wolfriders. Though the Treaty of Saethmont had been signed, she knew better than to challenge their ferocity, so she spent the whole night hiding in a tree. The next day, the Wolfriders left, and Kella discovered that a branch they had left behind to make a fire was still burning. Realizing that the branch had come from Wilderburg, she figured she could sell it as some sort of long-lasting torch.

With the Darkling invasion, the land was united against a common enemy. The Merchants' Guild of Tegar had decided to open up new trade routes to the north. Kella knew her chance had come. She showed the branch to the Guild, explaining its commercial value, and was finally made captain of a northbound caravan.
