"Such small hands...", his parents tenderly whispered in unison around Mardok's cradle. The two Orcs desperately looked at each other. In the blink of an eye, they realized that the fate of their little one was sealed within the savage Fiercewind Clan. As the son of an infirm Wolfrider despised by the Clan, Mardok was mocked, bullied and was denied any battle training. The young outcast had no choice but to toil in his mother's animal pen, looking after the wolves of his fellow Orcs and shaping his physique. Yet the more he tried to help, the more he was treated as a marginalized laborer to be exploited at will. Harboring resentment, Mardok plotted revenge to prove his Clan wrong.
"That monster devoured four of us in the northern Hoarlands! Beware its every move!" A squad of wounded Wolfriders had returned from a raid, leading a huge dire wolf on a chain. Unable to tame it, they confined it to a pit, hoping to quell its savagery. But it wasn't enough. The creature escaped on a snowy night, sowing panic in the Fiercewind Clan. For weeks it remained on the run, pillaging their every provision until hunger stalked the Clan. To the Orcs, it was not a wolf, but a "Blindbane". Mardok, however, sought to save the lost beast. Appeasing it with scents from its original territory, Mardok soon fostered its trust. As he mounted the creature, he faced a pivotal choice—revenge or escape?
"Fine. Ride your wolf. But you'll never have what it takes to raid with us!" The Fiercewind Wolfriders laughed when Mardok first joined their ranks—but their laughter died the day they saw him sow terror on the battlefield. One by one, his fellow Wolfriders abandoned their leaders to follow him. Before long, the outcast had become their mentor. But his rise stirred resentment, and when a strange disease drove wolves to madness, the blame fell on him. Mardok uncovered the treachery, exposing his old tormentor, Galrag. Galrag rushed toward Mardok in fury, only to be caught in Drogho's lethal jaws. With his enemy vanquished and the Clan's trust forever lost, Mardok left Mount Dreadfang, leading the outcasts who would become known as the Dreadfang Renegades.
The Dreadfang Renegades grew with every raid, a pack of exiles bound by defiance and survival. But when Mardok learned of the Bloodblade Clan's cruel tradition—casting out their weakest children to die—his fury burned hotter than ever. He rescued as many as he could, training them to ride, yet the injustice gnawed at him until he finally demanded change. Bakshi tempered Mardok's rage with wisdom: the Clans would never unite as one, but Mardok could forge a place for those left behind. When the Night of Burning Stars arrived, it was the Dreadfang Renegades who struck first, their swift assault giving the Orcs time to rally—turning outcasts into the first line of defense against Darklings.
