Mu Hsiang

When Mu Hsiang first accompanied her parents to pray for blessings from Chien-Mu, the tree that bridges the heavens and the earth, she fell into a deep sleep. There, she dreamt she talked with the tree, which told her of her destiny. Only after being treated by an Apothecary grand pharmacian did she finally awake. The physician told her that her fate would forever be bound with Chien-Mu.

After the grand pharmacian took Mu Hsiang under his wing, she continued his research into the Elixir of Immortality. After many years of study, they succeeded in lessening its side effects. Later, Mu Hsiang met a patient suffering from an incurable disease, whose Fateflower would soon wither. She gave him the improved Elixir of Immortality. He survived a while longer, but eventually succumbed to his illness—an event which attracted great controversy.

Unlike many of the physicians of the Apothecary, Mu Hsiang considers her patients' wellbeing to be more important than following the will of the gods. She prizes her patients' wishes above all else—even those whose death is said to be preordained. Her greatest desire is to help "those whom fate has abandoned".

Mu Hsiang enjoys cooking, and incorporates her medical skills into her recipes to create dishes that are highly nutritious. Unfortunately, most who try her recipes find them rather hard to swallow—and it's probably better that they don't know what's in them.
