Nika

Elmdale is a peaceful, easy-going place, and an idyllic home for many Halflings. Yet its beauty does not preclude the existence of a family of assassins. As far back as she can remember, Nika lived an itinerant lifestyle, traveling from place to place with her father. Starting off from her hometown, her assassination skills would only grow more deadly as she journeyed through the mountains.

After her brother, Nico, abandoned their training, Nika began to roam the mountains and forests alone. She had always seen her brother as a rival in training; now she trained twice as hard for both of them. Her swift movements created gusts of wind in the air. Occasionally, she couldn't help but wonder: had she eclipsed Nico's talents? Before Nika could figure this out, her life of wandering came to an end.

After entering Dawngrad, it only took four years for Nika to earn her place as the No. 2 assassin in the Guild, and she was granted a title: Snow Owl. It was a fitting name, encapsulating the other assassins' amazement at her near-spotless track record: a record as white as snow. But if you ask Silver Crow, Nika never wanted the attention that becoming the No. 1 assassin would bring—so she was more than happy to "fail" an assignment or two.

No one knows when the Nika defected from the Unionists to the Independents. Perhaps the death of the former Guildmaster, Fawkes, had made her unwilling to invite trouble. But whenever the other captains expressed suspicion, Nika would only smile. Surely such an innocent girl wouldn't be capable of such a thing, they concluded. Even her employers from House Scull could never be sure if her smile was an invitation to dance beneath the moonlight, or a prelude to a blade against one's throat.
