Story

  1. Chapter 1 Trust Level 2

At the age of 16, Pan witnessed the great Spirit Maiden Ulay breathe her last breath. In the silent, ice-cold air of the shrine, her people knelt, hands clasped in prayer for the soul of the Spirit Maiden who had healed them of their maladies and led them to her dying day. But before that moment could come to pass, her staff had to be passed on to a new owner. With the last of her strength, her face bathed in dim firelight, Ulay spoke the new owner's name—Pan.

  2. Chapter 2 Trust Level 4

Pan knew that the Satyrs faced a hard road ahead, but her determination never wavered. Taking up the burden of her people's hopes and dreams, she swore never to falter. Even though she might never fulfil the great hope of purifying their bloodline, perhaps her successor—or her successor's successor—might find a way to change the Satyrs' fate.

  3. Chapter 3 Trust Level 6

Our curse's end may yet be found in some place far away. If lost, take heed; the sound of flying daggers guides your way. A thousand heroes sought this place, a thousand heroes died. Their blood soaked deep into the earth, their bones scattered and dried. Though cloaked in deepest shadow, every night must meet its end. The answer lies in western lands, kept by a dear old friend. Engulfed in dark mist is the road, and long and winding too. I bless your steps, my child, until your journey home is through. —The Song of the Foremother, as revealed to Pan in a dream. Upon receiving it, she headed west in search of a way to purify the Satyrs' bloodline.

  4. Chapter 4 Trust Level 8

After narrowly escaping a violent death, Pan came to realize that Kinnara was the "sound of flying daggers" that the Song of the Foremother spoke of. She wasn't sure whether it was because she could see the pain that hid behind Kinnara's cold eyes, or because she needed Kinnara to help the prophecy come to pass—but for some reason, she decided to place her trust in Kinnara's madness. Great danger lay ahead of them, but the prophecy would guide them through it.
