Story

  1. Chapter 1 Trust Level 2

Born of a long line of blacksmiths, Vardun was raised amid the thundering of hammer upon anvil—but he rejected it. His dreams lay not in the forge, but in glory on the battlefield, where honor was won in blood. That dream died in a single night. A fragile weapon shattered in his grasp, and in that moment, his father was cut down before his eyes. Steel had revealed to him a brutal truth: weapons decided fate. Burdened by guilt, Vardun returned home and knelt before his grandfather, begging to learn the craft he once despised. The old Dwarf accepted. In his lessons, he spoke of an old blacksmith legend—the Runic Bracelets, artifacts said to grant dominion not over weapons, but over the runes themselves.

  2. Chapter 2 Trust Level 4

When the Hammerstrike Clan hosted a grand contest to forge a weapon for their new Dwarf-King, every Dwarven blacksmith answered, and Vardun stood among them. For him this was no mere contest: it was judgement. Day and night, Vardun forged without rest, his grandfather watching in silence. Fire scorched his skin and the hammer split his hands. Each strike upon the anvil was a plea for his absolution—for his father, the man he had failed. When the final strike fell, his creation did not simply surpass the others—it silenced them. The Dwarf-King declared Vardun the winner, but as the crowd roared, his grandfather did not smile. He knew that something within his grandson had awakened—something dangerous.

  3. Chapter 3 Trust Level 6

Against his grandfather's warnings, Vardun descended into forgotten catacombs chasing the truth behind the Runic Bracelets, uncovering forbidden runes long erased from Dwarven tomes. Knowledge came at a cost, and he paid it willingly. He carved the ancient runes into his own flesh, and with each mark, something within him faded. Through a ritual binding fire, earth, and thunder into his being, he forged the bracelets, but they were never meant to be worn. The moment they were completed, they fused to his arms—searing into him as if alive. The runes ignited across his body, not as symbols... but as voices.

  4. Chapter 4 Trust Level 8

Vardun rose to become Chief Runesmith of his clan—his ascent marked by rivals who vanished or perished under mysterious circumstances. Whatever doubts remained were erased in the War of the Last Snows, when Vardun unleashed the full truth of what he had become. The battlefield bent to his will. Stone surged, fire devoured, and thunder answered his command. He was no longer a weaponsmith, but a living weapon. Yet even such power could not defy the Frost Dragon. Beneath its shadow, his son fell and Vardun lost an eye—but not his fury. Now, whispers follow his name. Some say grief has broken him. Others claim madness controls him or that he has transcended mortality itself. But the truth is far less comforting. Vardun endures as a living forge of runes and ruin.
